If you are looking for a quiet beach along the Southend seafront, head to East Beach, Shoebury! You won't find traditional seaside attractions here, but there a good facilites including recently refurbished toilets, car parking and a NEW child friendly cafe. The beach is popular with locals looking for a break from the bright lights of central Southend.

The beach is a mix of stone and sand and it is a great crabbing spot when the tide is out. The beach is great for beach-combing and you may find some beachy treasures here like seaglass and the occasional interesting pottery piece.

Is East Beach Dog Friendly?

Dogs are allowed on our beaches between 1st October to 30th April

Play Area at East Beach

At present there is a large climbing frame with a slide at East Beach. Suitable for children 3+ due to the challenging climbs. The climbing frame is old but in good working order.

NEW Playground at East Beach

Plans for a new inclusive playground at East Beach are currently being considered. Southend Council have proposed a new inclusive playground, which will cater for all ages of children including provision for those with issues such as neurodiversity and a range of physical disabilities. The playground will include landscaping, seating and fencing to provide a safe environment for young people to play and explore. The beach playground works are hoped to begin in 2026. We cannot wait to see the result of the £500,000 project.

Cafe at East Beach Shoebury - The Beach House

NEW for Summer 2025! There is a new family friendly cafe in Southend-on-Sea. The Beach House is located between the car park and beach at Shoebury East Beach. The Beach House serves a breakfast menu of eggs, avocado toast, pancakes, french toast and has a kids breakfast menu of eggs, toast, pancakes, fruit and yogurt. The lunch menu consists of salad and sandwiches, again with options for children. There is also a great selection of drinks, coffees (good coffee!) and cakes. There are vegan and vegetarian options available.

The Beach House also hosts events such as yoga and bead workshops!
