The Martello Play Area can be found along the seafront at the popular Essex seaside town of Clacton-on-Sea, where there are plenty of family friendly things to do!. Martello Towers
The play area is named after the Martello Towers, which are a short walk away from the Martello Play Area. The Martello towers are circular, brick, artillery forts constructed along coastlines in the 19th century with the purpose of defending against invasion. Martello Tower E is a short two minute walk away. There is an information board with lots of intertesting history about how the Tower has been utilised throughout history. Did you know that Clacton was previously a Butlin's Holiday Park?

Play equipment at Martello Play Area
The play area at Martello Play Area is enclosed. There are two pieces of play equipment at the Martello Play Area. There is a large climbing frame with slide, which may be based upon a light house. There are fun lookout holes. The slide is accessed by either a climbing wall on the outside of the climbing structure, or a ladder rope which accesses the inside of the structure. There is also a climb upon boat with some steps inside and rope climbs.
