The village of Finchingfield can be found in North Essex within Braintree District. Finchingfield is a great location for a day out in Essex.
There are plenty of things to do with children in Finchingfield. The Finchingfield Lavender Fields make for a perfect summer family day out and children under 5 go free! Finchingfield also has a great children's play park, duck pond, tennis courts and large playing fields. Highlights of the Finchingfield Playground include the large climbing frame with enclosed slide and the sit on tractor for imaginative play.

What play equipment is there at FInchingfield Play Park?
At the Finchinfield Park there is a large wooden climbing frame with a ladder climb, rope climb, slide and pole to slide down. There are springy ride on equipment and tractor sit on. There are swings including baby swings.

Finchingfield Lavender Fields and Camping
Finchingfield Lavender Farm offers a range of experiences including pick your own Lavender, camping and glamping on the lavender farm and special events such as afternoon tea and lavender wreath making. There is also an on-site cafe at Finchingfield Lavender, where there also also a selection of gifts available to purchase.
Pick Your Own Lavender
The Finchingfield Lavender farm is open for day visits from May to August with the lavender blooming from July. For the 2025 season tickets cost £6.85 per person (adults and children), Under 5s are free. A limited number of day tickets are available and should be booked in advance to avoid disappointment. You can Pick Your Own Lavender flowers at the Lavender at Finchingfield. For just over £4 you are given a bucket, scissors and bag to fill. Finchingfield Windmill
Finchinfield WIndmill is the oldest windmill in Essex, thought to have been built in 1756. The address for the FInchingfield Windmill is Finchingfield Post Mill, Duck End, Finchingfield, Braintree, CM7 4NA. The mill makes for a great picnic spot. The mill is only open on selected Hertiage days (including National Mills Weekend). For opening times check out the Explore Essex website.
